Police find booze, pills and cocaine at a traffic stop near Deer Lake Friday afternoon

    56-year-old Scott Lavers of Port Saunders is now facing drug related charges.

    RCMP pulled over a car near Deer Lake last Friday afternoon, and arrested two people after they found cocaine, pills and drug paraphernalia. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says it happened around 2 p.m. on Route 430, the Northern Peninsula Highway. Police noticed an open container of alcohol inside and a bag of pills. After searching the passenger, they found cocaine.  

    56-year-old Scott Lavers of Port Saunders is now facing drug related charges. He’s due to appear in court next month. Although the 43-year-old woman who was driving was arrested, she was released without charges.
