The 35th annual radiothon in support of the Western Regional Hospital Foundation was a big success here on Bayfm this past Friday. Listeners called in from 8 to 5 p.m. and donated in support of necessary medical equipment for the western region. Foundation Executive Director Suzanne Carey read out the grand total, $305,686.27 plus $200,000 from the provincial government.

The new Western Memorial Regional Hospital came with a lot of new equipment so this year the focus is on helping other medical facilities in the western region. Fundraising efforts will go towards equipment for Burgeo, Deer Lake, Bonne Bay, and Port Saunders.
