Conway-Ottenheimer says so many of the issues at the 164 year old facility are related to staff shortages.
Shadow Justice Minister Helen Conway-Ottenheimer says there are too many delays dealing with addressing issues at His Majesty’s Penitentiary (HMP). She recently met with NAPE President Jerry Earle and Justice Minister John Hogan about serious human resources challenges that need to be addressed immediately to stabilize staffing at HMP and other correctional facilities throughout the province. Conway-Ottenheimer says so many of the issues at the 164 year old facility are related to staff shortages. She says conditions are horrendous for everyone at HMP. The MHA says it’s time government makes a final decision on the replacement of HMP.
