Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says people can expect to see more police on our roadways with various checkpoints throughout the province to remove impaired drivers from roadways and to ensure that motorists are driving safely.

The focus for RCMP this Thanksgiving long weekend is impaired, distracted and aggressive driving as well as seatbelt use. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says these are the four most significant factors of serious and fatal collisions. Operation Impact is an annual public safety initiative which aims to increase road safety.

O’Donaghey says people can expect to see more police on our roadways with various checkpoints throughout the province to remove impaired drivers from roadways and to ensure that motorists are driving safely. With the expected increase in traffic this weekend, police are asking motorists to plan ahead to ensure everyone arrives safely at Thanksgiving celebrations.
