Premier John Hogan has announced a new family care team will be located at the former hospital in Corner Brook. Renovations are underway to create long-term care beds and a transitional care unit for patients recovering from acute care before they return to home. The transitional care unit will have 15 beds and there will be two 30-bed long-term care units. The spaces include single bedrooms with private bathrooms, a communal dining area, open lounges, and bright, functional spaces to support comfort and dignity for patients and residents in a more home-like setting.
Recruitment is ongoing for nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, personal care attendants, allied health professionals, recreation staff and support staff. The opening date will be sometime this September.
