A 35-year-old woman was arrested by Baie Verte RCMP on Saturday night after attempting to avoid a police checkpoint on Route 410, and police say she nearly struck an officer while trying to get away. RCMP tried to stop the woman at the checkpoint around 8:15 p.m, and instead of slowing and stopping, she accelerated. Police were waiting when she arrived at home and at the detachment, she blew two and a half times the limit. Her license was suspended, and vehicle was seized and impounded. She will appear in court at a later date to answer to charges of flight from police and impaired operation.
