Announced in budget 2024, the demolition of four buildings on Crestview Avenue is complete but the statement says “While NL Housing issued a tender for the construction of 50 new units in October 2024, there was no successful bidder.
A statement from NL Housing Corporation today has confirmed that they could not find a successful bidder to make way for 50 new affordable units in Corner Brook. Announced in budget 2024, the demolition of four buildings on Crestview Avenue is complete but the statement says “While NL Housing issued a tender for the construction of 50 new units in October 2024, there was no successful bidder.
Housing is now restructuring the tender call into multiple smaller tenders, as they believe this will attract more bidders and allow for quicker construction starts and completions”. The first of these tenders are expected to be issued this month.
The statement ended with they “remain committed to building 50 new provincially owned homes in Western Newfoundland.”
