In this build, the multi-unit building will feature three second-level and three ground-level units. One ground-level unit will be fully accessible, with level no-step entry and a fully wheelchair accessible kitchen and bathroom.

A contract has been awarded to Brook Construction to build 6 new one bedroom homes in Corner Brook. It’s valued at $2.6 million and is a smaller build than the 50 affordable units that went on tender last October. There were no bidders so NL Housing Corporation  moved forward with a smaller tender for six units and plans to issue further tenders starting this fall. Corner Brook MHA Gerry Byrne says he can’t understand. He says these will be modern and some will be fully accessible. In this build, the multi-unit building will feature three second-level and three ground-level units. One ground-level unit will be fully accessible, with level no-step entry and a fully wheelchair accessible kitchen and bathroom. All units will include universal design features such as widened exterior and interior doors and hallways, lever-type door handles and faucets.

It is expected that construction will start in the coming weeks, with a completion deadline of July 2026.
