There’s a new program coming to Corner Brook next week but coordinators need help to “get the wheels turning.”  Mark Kahan is with “Wheels of Hope” through the Canadian Cancer Society. On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit, Kahan explains this new program saying they need people who love to drive and help others. Volunteer drivers transport people needing cancer treatment  and the program is starting in Corner Brook January 19th. Kahan says they need volunteer drivers here and they will get a tax receipt as well as payment for mileage.

They’re looking for people with reliable vehicles, a clean background check, and can commit to 2 or 3 weekdays per month. Kahan is a childhood cancer survivor  and started out ten years ago as a “Wheels of Hope Volunteer. He was surprised and humbled at how grateful people were and says it lifted his spirit. Kahan says if  you can’t volunteer, help spread the word. To find out more or to volunteer for the “Wheels of Hope” program call 1-888-939-3333.
