New gravel quarry in Bay St. George gets government approval

    Farrell’s Excavating Ltd. wants to develop and operate a 6.92-hectare sand and gravel quarry approximately 2.1 kilometres from the community of Barachois Brook.

    A sand and gravel quarry project in Bay St. George has been granted government approval. Farrell’s Excavating Ltd. wants to develop and operate a 6.92-hectare sand and gravel quarry approximately 2.1 kilometres from the community of Barachois Brook. The quarry materials would be used for roadway development, and commercial and residential paving in the area. The undertaking was registered in July and last week, the project was released from environmental assessment subject to conditions, such as the decommissioning process and a water resources management plan.
