Some areas of Corner Brook have received blue garbage bins as part of the city’s rollout of a new automated garbage collection system. These containers will be picked up by using an arm extended from a garbage truck and this is due to start January 12th. At this week’s public meeting, Councillor Sherry Dean says people can start using the new bins as soon as they get them. On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit, Mayor Linda Chaisson says the new method is safe and modern. She says in the new year, waste collection will be separated using two recycling streams; one week for paper and the next week. The city will provide updates, education, and instructions on the new garbage collection system through social media.
