The Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue team is reminding everyone of the three T’s of wilderness safety after an overdue hunter was safely located near Hughes Brook on Friday. Members got the call shortly after two o’clock in the morning and set off on a forest access road with 4x4 SAR trucks searching the man’s last known position near Cox's Cove and his intended destination near Kennedy Lake. The hunter was located by members of the public around 7am after he became stranded when his vehicle slid into a ditch.
