President and CEO Jeffrey Young says “This acquisition at 1 Washington Drive represents an investment in our children, our families, and our future.”
These are exciting times for the Mi’kmaw Cultural Foundation as they are set to renovate a Stephenville property into a new community hub and child care centre. President and CEO Jeffrey Young says “This acquisition at 1 Washington Drive represents an investment in our children, our families, and our future.” The project will provide high-quality early childhood education alongside a welcoming space for cultural programming, wellness, and community connection. Young says “ this space will be a hub of learning, culture, and community — a place where families feel supported and connected.” Renovations will begin soon, transforming the facility into an accessible, multi-purpose space for families and the broader community.
As well, MCF has secured $750K in federal funding over the next five years to support Mi’kmaw language programming. This will include the launch of new programs representing a major step forward in preserving Mi’kmaw identity, culture, and traditions for future generations. Programs will start in the coming weeks and will include a range of educational, cultural, and community-based initiatives.
