he winner is Brydgette Park of Gillams for her song, “As long as you’re here with me.”

The story of a little west coast girl has turned into a foundation that has raised over half a million dollars to help families in crisis or need. Isla Short inspired so many with hope during her short three and a half years. For two years, the tiny girl battled Neuroblastoma, which is a rare type of childhood cancer. Her  story also inspired the Town of Deer Lake to change its name to “Islaview” each year. During Monday’s Islaview Day, her uncle Dan Bursey says it was a very successful day raising about $35K from donations. This year, the foundation put out a contest call for young songwriters and Bursey says the winner gets a full recording package for their song from Citadel House Studios. Second place winner 12-year-old Lydia Dyer wrote a song called, “The View,” and she will get a sit down with The Once and a Gary Bennett Music gift card. The winner is Brydgette Park of Gillams for her song, “As long as you’re here with me.”

Judges included  Adam Baxter, Sherman Downey, Phil and Geraldine from the Once, Noah Hamilton, and Anna Louisa Ramos.
