Irishtown woman charged with assault with a weapon and theft at a store in St. George's

    Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says when the employee tried to get the vehicle’s licence plate, they were nearly struck before it fled towards Stephenville.

    A 20 year old Bay of Islands woman is facing an assault with a weapon charge, namely a vehicle, after stealing from a store in St. George’s. Bay St. George RCMP got a call from a retail store on Main Street around 5 o’clock Friday evening. An employee reported the woman left the store with unpaid merchandise and gave police a description. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says when the employee tried to get the vehicle’s licence plate, they were nearly struck before it fled towards Stephenville. Police located the woman, who is from Irishtown,  a short time later at a home in Stephenville and she was taken into custody. She is due to appear in court February 5th.
