It will take some time to fix water woes in the Bay of Islands town of Irishtown-Summerside. The town has been under a boil water advisory off and on for the past few years. Mayor Peter Parsons says since the town is 11 kms long, they get water from three different locations. Residents in the west end of town get water from Meadows and it’s perfect. Moving further into the westend, the water is mirky and comes from a small pond. Parsons says some homes are serviced with water from the Irishtown Brook and this is causing problems. He says says this is a big project and they have applied for funding. Parsons says tests done on the town’s water supply usually come back as poor.
