Industry Minister Andrew Parsons says Corner Brook has a big role to play in the future growth of the west coast. Yesterday, he announced funding that includes $46K for the city of Corner Brook to secure a consultant to conduct an industrial park feasibility study and enhance accessibility at Bartlett’s Point Park. He says infrastructure and ability is needed for resource projects and while Corner Brook does have limitations with space, when you think of all the renewable energy and mining potential there is, Corner Brook will play a big role. Parsons says this study will help the city determine its next direction.
Meanwhile, Corner Brook Mayor Jim Parsons says while there is industrial space in the city at Lundrigan Drive and Watsons Pond, there is a need and market for more space. He says there are only a handful of spaces left not sold on Lundrigan Drive and Watsons Pond is filled but faces challenges for water services and fire protection that would need to be addressed. In a separate project, the city will also receive $7,500 to engage professional services to conduct a feasibility study on the establishment of a farmers’ market.
