Industry Minister Andrew Parsons is back from the Bio International Convention 2024 held in San Diego, California. Parsons was joined by a delegation of seven businesses and organizations from Newfoundland and Labrador that are connected with the health technology and biotechnology sectors. He says this convention is the world’s largest event for biotechnology with 20,000 representatives from the pharmaceutical industry, academia, medical non-profits and governments from around the world attending annually and it seems to be growing. Parsons says it’s important to attend these events to be able to compete. Meanwhile, officials with the Department of Industry, Energy and Technology were in Halifax this week for the Home to Overseas (H2O) Conference, which wrapped up yesterday. Parsons says nine provincial organizations that are part of our rapidly growing ocean technology sector also took part. H2O is Canada’s premier event with over 50 exhibitors and 500 delegates as well as international participants from 15 countries.
