Indian Head Hatchery expansion still in the hands of the Environment department, comments due by July 24th

    On October 25th, 2023, the Minister required the proponent to submit an environmental impact statement (EIS) to provide further information on the potential environmental impacts of the project and measures to mitigate them.

    A proposal to expand the Indian Head Hatchery in Stephenville is in the hands of the environment department looking for comments. The plan is to improve quality and increase salmon aquaculture production for the province. On October 25th, 2023, the Minister required the proponent to submit an environmental impact statement (EIS) to provide further information on the potential environmental impacts of the project and measures to mitigate them. Public comments will  be accepted until July 24th, and may be emailed to EAProjectComments@gov.nl.ca. Printed copies of the EIS will be placed in the Stephenville and Harbour Breton public libraries.
