Immigration, Population Growth and Skills Minister Sarah Stoodley is off to the United Kingdom to attend immigration fairs in Milton Keynes and London. Stoodley will also meet with the High Commission of Canada in London. Last year, the United Kingdom had a total net migration of 685,000 people. With changing immigration policies, the Provincial Government believes there is a unique opportunity to attract highly skilled and targeted newcomers currently living in the United Kingdom to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador, filling in demand jobs in healthcare, early childhood education and residential construction, among others.
