Voters in the north shore Bay of Islands community of Hughes Brook won’t be heading to the polls today. That’s because only five candidates were nominated for the five available council positions. Debbi White, Travis Park, Greg Lovell, Zeke Gough, and Glen Gale have all been elected by acclamation.

Matthew Batt of Benoit's Cove released on $1000 bail, charged with impaired driving causing death
Police say Batt killed a pedestrian after hitting him with his vehicle early Monday morning ( September 29th) in Curling. The 91-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
