Half of the provincial contingent heading out to the Youth Bowling Canada Nationals in Edmonton are from Corner Brook Centre Bowl, and it’s the most that have ever gone from the local club. Nine bowlers between the ages of 10-17 and four coaches are making the trek to the Nationals, which take place May 5th to the 7th at the Bonnie Doon Lanes. A couple of bowlers, Abby Tiller and Brooklyn Stride dropped into Bayfm for a live chat with Lenny Benoit. Tiller says this event has special meaning for her family as her mom won it when she was only 16 and travelled with what would become her aunt. Tiller says there’s a little pressure and stress but as seniors, they are there to help younger bowlers.
Stride says they won the gold at Nationals in 2018, and the pair bowls at 200 and 230 averages. Of course, if you ask these young bowlers what they are most excited for about the trip, is a visit to the West Edmonton Mall. They’ll be wearing the NL emblem on their team jerseys. Best of luck to all of these young bowlers in Alberta next week!
