NL Power has replaced 30 of 200 damaged poles and will replace the remaining poles when safe to do so.

Government has lifted the evacuation order for Job’s Cove and Freshwater and those in affected areas are being allowed to return home. In an update on wildfires in NL this morning, Premier John Hogan says 2 of the three fires are being held but the largest in Kingston has burned over 10,000 hectares. He says last night, PAL Aerospace used infrared technology to assess damaged areas. So far, 196 structures have been damaged instead of the 203 originally reported and 179 people have been contacted about the loss. Hogan says volunteer fire departments from throughout the province helping battling blazes will also be assessed for damages associated with the fires. Meanwhile, Hogan says government will be matching every dollar donated to the Canadian Red Cross 2025 NL Wildfires Appeal.

NL Power has replaced 30 of 200 damaged poles and will replace the remaining poles when safe to do so. President Gary Murray says this has a lot to do with getting access to areas. 3185 households have registered with the Red Cross, for a total of 6513 evacuees and 1552 emergency financial support payments. Over 12,000 meals have been delivered for those evacuated.
