Government announces highway projects

    A $1.6 million contract awarded to Marine Contractors Inc. to pave the main road through Trout River and culvert replacement on Riverside Drive in Corner Brook.

    Government has announced close to $1.4 billion over the next 5 years will be spent on provincial roads and highways. This includes $225 million this year and $59 million has already been awarded for contracts. Fourteen contracts were awarded today including a $6.9 million contract for the rehabilitation of a section of the Burgeo Highway and the replacement of two structural plate pipe arches. A $1.6 million contract awarded to Marine Contractors Inc. to pave the main road through Trout River and culvert replacement on Riverside Drive in Corner Brook. $5.7 million will be used to pave sections of St. George’s Highway and $4 million will be used to pave a section of Cormack Road, the Deer Lake underpass and the Humber River Bridge.
