Covering a good cross-section of the western region, government announced 15 new early learning childcare locations during an event at one of them in Pasadena yesterday. Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Bernard Davis was at Meadowview Childcare Centre where he announced the creation of a total of 345 new childcare spaces at $10 a day. They will be located in Baie Verte, Burgeo, Cape St. George, St. George’s, Stephenville, Lourdes, Mainland, Robinsons, Corner Brook, Pasadena, Pilley’s Island, Port Saunders, and Springdale.
67 spaces childcare spaces will be created at the Pasadena location on Main Street. Funding comes from the $110 million that was announced during the budget, intended to expand childcare and current childcare spaces. Davis says most of these facilities are expected to open soon within a few weeks, some in a couple of months, and some in the new year.
The Minister says spaces will be created at Sacred Heart Elementary school in Curling and more announcements on childcare spaces will be announced soon.
