Deer Lake Volunteer Fire Department Chief Stephen Rowsell says 7 members of the team sprang into action to help volunteer firefighters from Cormack battle the blaze at Hiscocks Service Center.
An early morning fire has destroyed a west coast business that has been family owned and in operation for more than 30 years. A passerby along Route 430 contacted the Deer Lake Volunteer Fire Department about a fire at a business located near Cormack at 3:47 a.m. Chief Stephen Rowsell says 7 members of the team sprang into action to help volunteer firefighters from Cormack battle the blaze at Hiscocks Service Center. He says they were there until about 7 o’clock this morning but crews from Cormack stayed on the scene. Rowsell says these volunteers went on to their jobs after tackling the fire. A post on Hiscock’s Service Center’s Facebook page says “ CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Please be respectful of the family and the space we need to process & handle this.
