Premier John Hogan says during the past week firefighters have had to deal with 28 fires, other than the three major wildfires currently in the news.
Not only are fines going up by tens of thousands of dollars for starting a fire when you shouldn’t, offenders can also face time in prison. During an update on the 3 wildfires currently burning in the province, premier John Hogan explained these new penalties with new fines ranging from $50K to $150 K and will come with prison terms up to a year. Hogan says the Kinsgston fire is still the one requiring the most attention and it has grown overnight. Military assistance will be on site today and 20 firefighters will arrive from Ontario tomorrow. Hogan says Quebec is also sending massive help.
