The daughter of former Stephenville Mayor Tom O’Brien has come up with a unique way to honour her father’s memory. O’Brien passed away this month after recently being elected back on council, something he had been a part of for a quarter of a century. Natasha O’Brien says weather pending, there will be a fireworks send off after Saturday’s Celebration of Life Service at the St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church. She says her father always organized fireworks displays in the town, personally planning, and setting off each one; always with his family by his side. He took great pride in doing so. In honour of Tom his family is organizing a special fireworks display Saturday evening.
O’Brien says there were times her father was not on council but he remained committed to the town. She says her father’s service to others guided her path to becoming a social worker. The fireworks are due to get underway between 8 and 8:30 Saturday night from Mayfield.
