Police say 37 year old Matthew Todd Batt from Benoit's Cove was operating the vehicle involved and has been charged with impaired driving causing death.
A 91-year-old man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Curling early this morning. RNC say they were called to O’Connell Drive Extension, in the area of Georgetown Road, around 12:30 this morning. Police say 37 year old Matthew Todd Batt of Benoit's Cove was operating the vehicle involved and was arrested in connection with impaired driving. He has been charged with impaired driving causing death. Batt's vehicle was seized, driver’s license suspended, and he is being held in custody to appear in court. RNC are looking for witnesses or video footage (CCTV, dash-camera, cell phone) from the area in the lead up to, or immediately following the collision. Please call 709-637-4100.
