RCMP is investigating a fraud that occurred at Shears Building Supplies in Deer Lake. Police say various building materials, including bundles of shingles, siding and siding accessories, were fraudulently obtained. Cpl Jolene Garland says they responded to a report from the business on February 26th that fraud had occurred last November 25th. Three males attended the building supply store and left in a GMC truck with a utility trailer in tow.
Garland says the materials are valued at nearly $15,000.00 and included Bundles of IKO Marathon Plus Dual black shingles and Bundles of KAYCAN siding - colors Cabot red and Boulder grey. Police believe the supplies may have been sold.
Anyone who suspects they may have purchased these specific items or anyone who has any information about this crime, including the identity of the individuals in the pickup truck, are asked to contact Deer Lake RCMP at 709-635-2173.
