The Deep Gulch culvert replacement project in Corner Brook is living up to its name. O’Connell Drive has been closed to traffic since Sunday and will remain closed for the next few days. Mayor Jim Parsons says anytime there’s work to be done in the Corner Brook Stream area, it’s always a challenge. He says whether it’s through the park or downtown it really causes a lot of congestion. Parsons says contractors are making a lot of progress and the next phase will move onto University Drive. He says this is a necessary project due to big washouts in the area. Meanwhile, Mount Bernard Avenue is complete after second coats of asphalt were laid over the weekend.
