The City of Corner Brook has received a revised application from Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Ltd. (CBPPL) to harvest timber within the City’s Protected Water Supply Area (PWSA) zone. Harvesting timber is considered a forestry classification of use which is a “Discretionary Use” of the city’s Development Regulations for this zone. CBPPL wants to harvest timber adjacent to Eastern Lake and North of Corner Brook Lake; and construct 2.75kms of road (blue on map). It will involve mechanical timber harvesting using purpose built forestry equipment and excavators to construct the road. The project includes harvesting within a 330 hectare footprint (orange on map) and there will be 2 stream crossings.
