The City of Corner Brook has received a revised application from Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Ltd. (CBPPL) to harvest timber within the City’s Protected Water Supply Area (PWSA) zone. Harvesting timber is considered a forestry classification of use which is a “Discretionary Use” of the city’s Development Regulations for this zone. CBPPL wants to harvest timber adjacent to Eastern Lake and North of Corner Brook Lake; and construct 2.75kms of road (blue on map). It will involve mechanical timber harvesting using purpose built forestry equipment and excavators to construct the road. The project includes harvesting within a 330 hectare footprint (orange on map) and there will be 2 stream crossings. Members of the public are invited to review the proposal and submit comments to the City. The deadline to weigh in is March 29th. Go to cornerbrook.com for more information.
