The tower collapsed during severe weather conditions.
UPDATE: The Cell on Wheels has been activated and wireless service in La Scie has been restored. Bell Aliant says the coverage and capacity of this temporary site may differ from what customers experienced with the previous tower. They also say they are monitoring network performance of this temporary site as they begin the work to construct a new permanent tower in the community, which will take some time to complete.
EARLIER STORY: Bell Aliant customers in La Scie are facing a cellular service outage after storm-related damage to a radio tower in the community knocked out cellular coverage this week.
The company says the damage has left the affected area without the ability to send text messages, use mobile data or place phone calls, including 911 calls.
Bell Aliant says crews are working to restore service. A mobile cell site is currently in transit and will be activated as soon as it arrives later this week.
Customers with devices that support Wi-Fi Calling can still make and receive calls when connected to a Wi-Fi network.
