The new Middle Arm Brook project will include the installation of approximately 350 metres of armour stone along Main Street
Ten projects in 8 communities will share $4.3 million in federal, provincial and municipal funding aimed at disaster mitigation efforts such as shoreline protection and erosion controls. Federal Rural Economic Development and ACOA Minister Gudie Hutchings says this money will be used to help protect homes, roadways, municipal parks, and water and wastewater infrastructure from shoreline erosion and extreme weather events. Transportation and Infrastructure Minister John Abbott says these projects are necessary to protect critical infrastructure from storm surges and will serve as long-term solutions to prevent coastal erosion. In Cox’s Cove, the new Middle Arm Brook project will include the installation of approximately 350 metres of armour stone along Main Street. This project’s total cost is slightly more than $550,000. In Channel-Port aux Basques over $897,000 to construct shoreline protection with armour stone, guide rails, and four new pipe culvert end sections between Bennett Lane and Sheaves Lane on Main Street.
