At this week’s public meeting, Corner Brook city council approved a couple of change orders for the Deep Gulch Culvert replacement project to the tune of more than $116K. During the replacement of the existing 400mm water main, a new gate valve had to be installed to maintain the redundant supply of water to the Hospital. Slightly more than &87K was needed. As well, nearly $30K was spent on two specialty couplings that were needed to tie into existing steel pipe. Deputy Mayor Linda Chaisson asked how long the project will take. The city’s Director of Engineering, Donny Burden says there is still quite a bit of work to get done but the hope is that it won’t interfere too much with traffic in the Lower O’Connell Drive area. The contract was awarded to JCL Investments Inc at an original amount of just over $3M.
