Modernization and Service Delivery Minister Sarah Stoodley says fines can be as high as $1200.
Corner Brook will be one of six school buses with stop arms equipped with cameras as part of a four-month pilot project. The purpose is to detect and capture images of vehicles illegally passing school buses when stopped with their stop arm extended. Modernization and Service Delivery Minister Sarah Stoodley says fines can be as high as $1200. She says the cameras are hard to spot and most drivers who do pass a school bus while the stop arm is extended don’t do it a second time. The new cameras on the selected buses will roll out starting September 3rd.
