    Corner Brook RCMP officer charged with careless use of a firearm

    SIRT NL started a serious incident investigation after getting the report regarding Cst Marc Payne, who was off duty at the time and no one was injured.

    A Corner Brook RCMP officer has been charged with careless use of a firearm after an incident on May 15th, 2022. SIRT NL started a serious incident investigation after getting the report regarding Cst Marc Payne, who was off duty at the time and no one was injured. SIRT NL Director Michael King says “Because this matter will now proceed through court, SIRT-NL will make no further comment.”  The officer is due to appear in court April 16th at 9:30am.
