President Laura Edwards says upwards of 60 swimmers from as far away as Gander are expected to compete at this event.
The Corner Brook Rapids Swim Club West Coast Invitational is set to go this weekend, and it’s the first time the club gets to host at the new Marina Redmond centre. President Laura Edwards says upwards of 60 swimmers from as far away as Gander are expected to compete at this event. The club will also host the Summer Games next year and Edwards says swim meets are a family thing and everyone plays a part.
Halla Parsons is a club swimmer in the 16 and over age group and is due to compete in six swims this weekend. She says they waited for the new pool which now everyone can try. Meanwhile, Edwards says the club’s pre-competitive swimmers will be on hand this weekend and can answer questions anyone may have about swimming. She says it’s a great opportunity for some young people to drop by and check out the sport and they offer a free one-week trial. Swimmers will compete all day Saturday and Sunday until noon.
