There’s a new head at the helm of the Corner Brook Port and this CEO has her sights set on full steam ahead. The board announced the appointment of Kelly Smith on July 1st. She replaces Jackie Chow, whose two decades of dedicated leadership helped transform the Port into a vital engine of regional economic development. Smith has a background in business development, namely relationship building and financial management. Smith says a strong foundation has been laid at the port especially in the cruise and shipping sectors. She was born and raised in Corner Brook and says her “vision is for the Port to be not only a hub of economic activity, but also a catalyst for opportunity—supporting jobs, innovation, and community well-being.”
In recent years, the Port has achieved record exports of over 8,000 containers and welcomed more than 50,000 cruise passengers.
