Gladys passed away Thursday at the age of 83.
The funeral for the late Gladys Lorraine Batten will take place 2 o’clock this afternoon at St. John the Evangelist Anglican church in Corner Brook. Gladys passed away Thursday at the age of 83. She was well known for her biggest and most demanding project, the Corner Brook Come Home Year in 2019. In her obit, her daughter says, “She worked tirelessly on it, sometimes very tired, but she never slowed down. She wanted that celebration to be something special for her community, and she made it happen.”
Gladys was also deeply committed to the Corner Brook Stream Committee, Scaredy Cat Rescue, welcoming cruise ship passengers, and volunteer work.
Gladys leaves to mourn her partner; John Collins. Children; Barbara Mackinnon (Mark) and Michelle Carberry (Glenn), as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.
