Corner Brook Mayor says payment plans in Budget 2026 is big for businesses

    Councillor Donna Luther says any overdue taxes will also have the interest rate cut in half, for businesses and residents. 

    According to the Mayor of Corner Brook, the biggest thing that came out of Budget 2026 was the payment plan for businesses. Taxes can now be paid quarterly by business owners and interest free. On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit, Linda Chaisson says this will help them with cash flow. Councillor Donna Luther says any overdue taxes will also have the interest rate cut in half, for businesses and residents. 

    The budget includes increased funding to attract investment and support local businesses. Luther says it’s time for a renewed focus on revitalizing the downtown core supporting small business and creating a more vibrant experience for all. 

    Council will re-establish a Downtown Business Improvement Area (BIA) with dedicated staff to revitalize the core.
