Corner Brook council votes to keep 76-part teenage dance hall regulations in place

    Mayor Jim Parsons says since then the city has gone through new development regulations  where dance halls are a permitted use but this law still stood on the books.

    This has all the makings of the 1984 movie Footloose. Included in Monday’s public meeting agenda was “Corner Brook’s Teenage Dance Hall Regulations.” Mayor Jim Parsons says council had planned to repeal this massive 2011 bylaw that has 76 parts to it. He says since then the city has gone through new development regulations  where dance halls are a permitted use but this law still stood on the books. In the end, council voted against repealing the teen dance regulations and the rules remain.
