Bishop John Organ of the Anglican Diocese of Western Newfoundland revoked the license for ministry of Catherine Short, dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Corner Brook.
A Corner Brook Bishop has been ordered to take a sabbatical leave until he retires in October and to apologize to a Dean he fired. Bishop John Organ of the Anglican Diocese of Western Newfoundland revoked the license for ministry of Catherine Short, dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Corner Brook. He announced it during a public sermon and on Facebook in January. In March, Dean Short lodged a four-part complaint against Organ under the Misconduct Policy of the Ecclesiastical Province of Canada, which consists of seven easternmost dioceses. Thirty two people were interviewed, some of them twice, and both the complainant and respondent were interviewed four times for a total of 3200 minutes of audio. After the investigation, a 129-page report was completed that showed Organ was discriminatory, committed emotional conduct, and bullied Dean Catherine. She will be re-licensed by June 30th.
