At last night’s public meeting, the city of Corner Brook awarded a contract worth nearly half a million dollars for asphalt paving. Mayor Jim Parsons says over the last number of years, they do a big contract every year to redo big sections of roads. He says this can include milling, rebuilds, or new layers. Parsons says a few years ago, they added another contract just to do small patches and water cuts.  He says this has worked really well and contractors can get the work done earlier in the year. The Tender closed on May 6, 2025 with one bid received from Marine Contractors Inc. The s price is based on $128.00 per square meter of asphalt pavement. This is an increase of nearly 11 percent over last year’s cost of $115.50 per square meter.
