It’s not a permanent fix but the Mayor of Deer Lake Dean Ball says a contractor is in place to repair the bridge in front of the power house. Last weekend, traffic in that area was slowed to 30 km/hr after significant rainfall created large potholes. Ball says they need good weather to do the work and traffic can easily be diverted through the town when needed.
Crews were on hand to make repairs over the weekend and Ball says motorists should use caution in the area. He says there are caution signs up and there have been a lot of issues with tires and rims broken.
Last May, government announced the bridge would be replaced and the tender for the project is due to close this month. Ball says it will be a two year project to get it finished.
