It’ll be shovels in the ground for six new one bedroom NL Housing Corporation units in Corner Brook within the next few weeks. The original tender to build 50 new units went to tender last October but no one made a bid. Yesterday, government announced they minimized the tender and Brook Construction received the $2.6 million contract. While Corner Brook MHA Gerry Byrne says he can’t understand why there wasn’t a bidder but the commitment is for 50 units. He says all 50 of these units are designed according to the needs of NLHC clients. The 6, one bedroom units have a completion deadline of July 2026.
