An overdue snowmobiler was safely located overnight by Bay of Islands volunteer Search and Rescue. At around 11:00 p.m. last night, BOISAR was called out by the RNC to search for a snowmobiler reported overdue in the Lady Slipper Road area just west of Corner Brook. 14 members responded to the call and deployed into the area by snowmobile and Argo.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. members located the subject safe and well at their cabin. Mechanical issues had prevented the subject from returning home as planned. BOISAR credits the reporting party with making the right decision to contact police on this matter and also the subject in making the right decision to stay put at the cabin. A clear trip plan with intended location and anticipated return time was a critical component in this positive outcome. After returning to base and resetting equipment in preparation for the next deployment, BOISAR members stood down at 5:00 a.m. this morning.
