There’s a special fundraiser taking place in Corner Brook this weekend for our beloved Melanie Gosse. At one point, she was the voice of “Retro Fridays” here on Bayfm and has been a voice instructor in the city for the past 13 years. A lot of that time was spent working one on one, with groups or with her beloved special needs clients. Six weeks ago Melanie found out she has cancer and is now waiting on an appointment for surgery in St. John’s. Once the surgery is done, she will need at least 6 weeks to recuperate and in the meantime, the bills keep piling up. When her sister Amanda Johnson heard the news, she wanted to help Melanie, so the idea of a benefit concert began. It runs 2 p.m. until close this Sunday at Odin’s Axe and Johnson says the line-up keeps growing. She says music is the love of Melanie’s life, in her heart and in her soul.  Sunday’s concert will be donation at the door and a GoFundMe Page has also been set up.
