Choices for Youth is partnering on a broad vision to establish a network of nine youth focused hubs across the province, and the first one will open in Corner Brook next year. Director Krista Butler says the name is “Becket” and Vine Place Community Centre was selected as the lead agency. She says these Integrated Youth Services Hubs are designed around the needs of the youth in that community, things like mental health, substance use, primary care, employment and homelessness. Butler says there is also a cultural component which means offering land based activities. She says many young people in this province are struggling to navigate a complex system and this is something they’ve heard from youth and stakeholders. Butler says the IYS Becket Hub will serve those aged 29 and under, making it easier for them to access help where they need it and when they need it.
